CANDIDATE/WORKER

Who do I need to contact if I can't get into work? (eg sickness, car broken down etc).

Please always contact HSL Recruitment on 02476 327602 1 hour prior to your shift time, however you must also check your induction paperwork in case you need to contact your line manager onsite as well.

What do I do if I think my pay is wrong? 

Please contact anybody at HSL who will look into this as a priority. Please have your payslip available for that discussion.

How do I access my payslips? 

You will be provided with a login for an online portal to access your payslips each week. If you don’t have login details contact your HSL contact.

How do I book time off (eg holiday, hospital appointment etc)? 

Speak with your client about taking anytime off – and once agreed please contact your contract manager at  HSL. Some clients require a holiday form to be completed.

How do I accrue holiday pay? 

Holiday pay is accrued based upon the hours you have worked – and is generally 12.07% of your standard pay. Holiday pay is not accrued if you are absent from work, or on overtime hours worked.

Do I get paid for bank holidays?  

All holidays (including Bank Holidays) are paid from holiday pay you have accrued.

What documents do I need to prove I have the right to work in the UK? 

If you are a British citizen then we will need to see a valid passport or Birth Certificate, proof of National Insurance and 2 proofs of address. For non-British citizens we need a settlement status (share code) so that we can check your RTW status on GOV.UK. We will not put anybody into work unless we have all the correct RTW documents.

Will I get paid if I take unplanned time off?

Unplanned absent is not paid. Where appropriate statutory sick pay can be paid but there is a qualifying period before a payment can be made.

How do you source and vet candidates?

We use a variety of job boards to source candidates.  All candidates receive a telephone pre-screen interview.  If successful the candidate receives a face to face interview coupled with testing as required for the position. See our process for more details.

What is your process for understanding our company’s specific hiring needs?

We would expect a face to face meeting to take both job description and person specification, we also insist on a site visit to fully assess the needs of the position to be filled.

Do you offer temporary, permanent and contract placements?

We offer temporary, permanent and contract placements.

What is your replacement policy if a placement doesn’t work out?

The replacement policy is dependant on the length of time the worker has been engaged and can range from 0% to 100% rebate.

How do you stay compliant with employment laws and regulations? 

Being Corporate members of the REC and we adhere to the code of conduct which is continually updated.  We have to sit an examination every two years on the code of conduct and employment law.

What makes Hiring Strategies different from other recruitment agencies?

Unlike many of our competitors our operational staff are not highly targeted, aggressively sales orientated or commissioned recruiters, but are specialists with a solid track record of performance in the above sectors, so have extensive experience in sourcing, monitoring and managing the right people for our contract accounts.

Can you handle international recruitment if needed?

We have extensive experience of international recruitment since 2001.  We have opened and operated a number of offices in various countries within the EU.
